Red Bull Joyride
Red Bull Joyride 2012
Red Bull Joyride is a freeride event that demands that competitors incorporate all facets of the sport, including slopestyle, dirt jump, and North Shore style mountain biking. The course is designed by professional riders, in collaboration with the best builders in the business, and promises to be the first of its kind. By ensuring maximum inclusion of natural terrain combined with gigantic manmade features, Red Bull Joyride challenges the possibilities and boundaries of freeride mountain biking as we know them.
This event is a game changer and there is only one place to showcase it. Red Bull Joyride is set to take place in Whistler on August 18th as part of the 9th edition of the World’s Largest Freeride Mountain Bike Festival, Crankworx Whistler. As a testament to the quality of both the course and competition the Freeride Mountain Bike Association recognizes Red Bull Joyride as a Diamond Stop, one of only two worldwide. Red Bull Joyride, in essence, offers up the biggest mountain bike playground ever seen in competition.
Using an invitation format, the best of the best are invited to Red Bull Joyride, based on how they have placed in previous Crankworx events, how they fared in the FMB Association World Tour 2011, and based on results at key events in the lead up to Crankworx Whistler. Red Bull Joyride features twenty-five athletes who give all they have in order to wow the crowd and impress the judges. The top six athletes will join the ten who have pre-qualified for Saturday’s finals, where the winner will take home $25,000.
