You might find this hard to believe but Kirsten Sweetland completed her first triathlon at the age of six. Yes, six. Though she competed in numerous sports throughout her childhood her unique ability and passion for triathlon was obvious.

Her father competed in triathlons in the early 80's and has been a guide and mentor to her to this day. As a competitive, energetic kid, triathlon proved to be the perfect place for her to direct her energy.

She began training full time with the National Triathlon Centre at the age of 15. By 18 she was competing and even winning at the highest level of her sport among athletes over a decade older.

Throughout peaks and valleys in both training and competition she continues to progress, evolve and apply herself everyday with the intention of being the best in the world. 


Currently residing in Victoria, B.C, she has been competing in International Triathlon Union (ITU) competitions since 2005. Since then she has taken part in 23 events and placed top ten in 13 of them. Kirsten is focused on nothing short of climbing to the top of the Olympic Podium before she's done and given her track record, realizing this goal is within her reach.
