In the run-up to the qualifying rounds, which will be held at HEC on October 13, an extra portion of cool design will win you points and a good starting position.
In the race itself, it is of course best to come first. Three judges will give extra points for design, creativity, and technical realization of the racing cans. A can that spends most time off the track will clearly score fewer points than a racer that smoothly finds its way around the bends and turns of the race track. The winners of the qualifying rounds will race on to join the National Finals in Montreal. And that’s not where the race is over. The Red Bull Racing Can World Final will be held on the premises of the Red Bull Racing Headquarters in Milton Keynes, England on November 22, 2011.
A total of 100 points can be scored. The first across the finish line will get 60 points. The team to finish second will score 55 points; the team on third place will score 52. Fourth place wins you 49 points, etc. Still, 30 points can be won for construction achievement. The jury will give points for creativity, design, and technical realization of the racers. Competitors can register online at www.redbull.ca/racingcan or on site the day of the event on October 13, 2011. The event is free to both participants and spectators. Red Bull cans and tools will be provided to build your racer.
