Musical worlds will collide as Toronto’s Molson Amphitheatre will play host to the ultimate clash of the titans. Four DJ crews hailing from Glasgow, London, Montreal, New York and Toronto will be representing their sound on four different stages and sound systems, as they battle it out exciting a crowd of thousands to ultimately become the reigning champion of the Red Bull Music Academy World Tour – Culture Clash Toronto stop, as part of the critically acclaimed 11-day Manifesto Festival of Community & Culture.
With four epic collectives performing under one skyline, the Red Bull Music Academy World Tour - Culture Clash promises to deliver an unforgettable night with the very best in cross-genre exploration. Hosted by Toronto’s own Kardinal Offishall, pioneers from four styles of sound system culture face with off in the city’s first ever cross-genre culture clash of that magnitude. Artists battling for the crowd’s favour include:
•Zulu Nation featuring DJ Afrika Bambaataa
•LuckyMe featuring Just Blaze, Hudson Mohawke, Lunice, Rustie
•Mad Decent featuring Skerrit Bwoy, Dillon Francis, DJ Sega, South Rakkas Crew and Paul Devro
•Toronto All-Stars featuring Starting from Scratch, DJ Mensa, Lissa Monet & Lindo P
•Plus Special Guests
The evening will kick off with a 15-minute warm up set at each stage. The format of the show will be broken into four rounds – the first “selection round,” where collectives are judged based on music selection; the second will be the “entertainment round” where each collective will bring a special guest to their stage. The third will challenge each collective to stray from their norm and play a different genre of music on their sound system. The fourth and final round is the “banger round,” where each stage will pull out their biggest and baddest tunes to win over the crowd once and for all.
