18 of the best free runners athletes will head to the parkour paradise of Santorini Island in Greece on October 8 to compete in Red Bull Art of Motion.

Perching high on the cliffs rising out of the Aegean, the white rooftops of the village of Firostefani will provide the perfect playground for the Red Bull Art of Motion free runners.

When Ryan Doyle visited Santorini on a fact-finding mission last year he described the tiny Greek archipelago as ‘a parkour paradise, the most natural terrain that anyone can dream of. It would be cool if all athletes could gather here for a competition."

One year later and his dream is about to become a reality...

The Art of Motion format sees the free runners given two minutes to complete a natural course across the rooftops and through the narrow streets of Firostefani using as many flips, dive rolls, aerial twists and hard drops as they can incorporate in their routine.

The top eight chosen by the panel of four judges to have competed the PK circuit in the most stylish, innovative and creative way, go on to the final round where they compete for a place on the podium.

Carrying the hopes of the home nation against a field of leading free runners from 11 different countries is Zaza Markoulia, a rising star of the Greek scene and key member of the NSA group.

Red Bull Art of Motion leap into action at 4pm (CET) on Saturday, October 8. and will be streamed live on www.redbull.gr
