Sean Pettit Red Bull

Sean Pettit was all smiles at the Powder Awards last night. He figured with his 5 nominations, he would most likely walk out of the building with some kind of a trophy, plaque or medal. The Jerome hotel in Aspen Colorado was packed with the who’s who of professional skiing and the common denominator in all conversations was Sean Pettit’s name.

The night started with an inspirational speech from an 85 year old Warren Miller who paid a tribute to Shane McConkey and lectured the crowd to a humoristic ski history lesson. Sean listened and raised a toast in the honor of those legends who, before him, inspired skiers to keep on skiing.

Sean received the Full Throttle Award for his fast paced segment in the latest MatchStick Production release “In Deep”. He accepted the award with a classy speech and a few jokes.

A few more trophy we given out and the night was coming to an end with one more winner to be announced. The Male Performance of the Year Award is the most prestigious in skiing and Sean, at 17 years of age, had his eyes on it for a few years already. With Tanner Hall on stage to introduce the recipient, most people knew who it was going to be. Sean Pettit, Male Performer of the Year… Where are you Sean? Can somebody find Sean Pettit in the house? Sean came out running from the back of the room supported by a cheering crowd. Being the youngest Athlete to ever win this prize is an accomplishment that inked Seany’s name in the history book alongside the likes of Warren Miller, Shane McConquey and Tanner Hall.
