From April 2011, the best FMX riders in the world will fight for the coveted title at the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour taking place on four continents including six events. This year’s new locations are set in the UAE and Australia for the season’s finale as well as in Spain, Italy, Brazil and Poland.
“If you need to win one series in order to gain immortality, then it is definitely this one,“ stressed Nate Adams (USA) after the season final in 2010. Adams, who literally flew for the title without winning a single event but by showing great consistency, looked back on the season including five events, 770 jumps, 524 flips and nearly 17,000 metres travelled through air.
But 2011 will hold yet another challenge for the current champion and his competitors. The extended series, which will take place on four continents in 2011, will kick off in United Arab Emirates on 15 April. Events in Brazil (28 May), Italy (25 June), Spain (15 July) and Poland (6 August) will follow, before the World Tour will finish in Australia (17 September) for the first time in its ten-year history. Andre Villa, who was only five points behind the champion during the past season and contender for the runner-up spot, explained: “The slightest mistake is enough and the chance to win the title is gone.“
Already in 2010, the Red Bull X-Fighters set new standards on an international level. Since then, top stars in the scene have queued up for starting places at this event and rookies like Levis Sherwood (NZL) were brought to light with the help of this series. Red Bull X-Fighters are at places where you would never expect top-class motor sports. The FMX Tour stops at the most famous cities and historic sites all around the world. Nate Adams (USA), Robbie Maddison (AUS), Andre Villa (NOR), Dany Torres (ESP), Levi Sherwood (NZL) and many more have fascinated hundreds of thousands of fans so far at large bullfighting arenas in Mexico (Mexico City) and Spain (Valencia and Madrid), at the Sphinx of Giza (EGY), the Red Square in Moscow (RUS) as well as in the Brazilian metropolis Rio de Janeiro (BRA) or in the Eternal City of Rome (ITA).
***Full Details will be released in 2011. All we can tell you is that it will be in Australia in September and that Red Bull Australia plan to make it one of the best Red Bull X-Fighters yet! ***
