Red Bull Manny Mania kicked off out West with 4 stops in 4 different cities to give to opportunity to 4 skilled skateboarders to participate in the Red Bull Manny Mania National Final in Ottawa on Canada Day. This could be their ticket to represent Canada at the Red Bull Manny Mania World Final in New York City.

 

Vancouver

Saturday June 2nd saw Red Bull’s Manny Mania at the Vancouver Skate Plaza in Vancouver, BC with 25 competitors in 5 heats battling it out for top spot. The weather looked ominous as the day started but in true Vancouver fashion, the sun broke through making for a splendid display of Vancouver Skate domination.

The Underworld Skate team had a difficult job determining who would land on the podium but when the dust finally settled it was Eric Zimmer who earned top spot and a trip to Ottawa for the national final. Zimmer, who has competed and podiumed at various Many Mania’s over the last few years finally worked his way into 1st place and could not have been happier. When asked how he felt about heading to Ottawa Zimmer could only reply “oohh, can’t wait!” Falling closely behind Zimmer was Micky Popa in 2nd place and Adam McConnell in third.

The 21 year old Zimmer hailing from Burnaby, BC is inspired by Joey Brezinski, loves manuals and thinks Mania Mania is “Fu@*n sweet!” He’ll head to Ottawa for Canada’s national final on Canada Day weekend July 1st with the Vancouver skate community behind him.

Winnipeg

Thursday evening at the new indoor Edge skate park. 22 competitors including 2010 winner Jamie Suppes and defending Winnipeg winner Tyson Kanhai. Heats of 4 narrowed the comp down to the final group that had 10 minutes to showcase their skills in front 100+ spectators and an elite panel of judges representing all the major shops in Winnipeg.

At the end, Jamie Suppes was crowned champion by finishing with a nose manual double nollie flip up into bank. The top 3 were rounded out by Brock Gruhn and Chris Rossong.

Edmonton

On Friday June 22nd, skateboarders from Edmonton and the area met at West 49 Skatepark to battle for a place on the podium for this Red Bull Manny Mania Qualifier.

After a tough judging session, the judging panel decided to give the first position to the skateboarder who showed the most perseverance and skills all day : Dylan Fulford.

Calgary

On the same day, couple of miles down south, Red Bull Manny Mania Qualifier took also place at the Red Bull Warehouse in Calgary.

After a fierce competition, judges decided to crown the best skateboarder : Beau Larson.

All these winners will be competing at the Red Bull Manny Mania National Final in Ottawa on July 1st, during Canada Day.
