The first Sunday in April kicked off Red Bull Butter Cup in beautiful British Columbia at Whistler Blackcomb. The weather was favorable, with sunshine in the morning and high clouds in the afternoon. Sunscreen + shades where definitely part of the dress code with a balmy high of 6 degrees. 39 riders buttered their way across the custom built course that travelled all the way from Calgary and Edmonton, where events were held last week.

Set up at the base of Whistler right in between the Fitzsimmons quad chair and the infamous GLC, the jam format contest drew a good crowd, both young and old. Canadian snowboarding legend turned swag slinger/media mogul, Jesse Fox, was on the mic with industry guru and fellow Whistler allumnist Zoltan Katchanowski to bring some comedy and vintage experience to the event. The spine was well sessioned all day long with riders getting, as Goose so eloquently put in the classic film Top Gun, "inverted" but still managing to get a tail tap in on the landing. The ladies had a fair showing with 18 year old Natsuki Sato greasing it up to take top female and Whistler local Aaron Johnson, AKA P-Nut, grabbing top male.

Rider’s were also able to voice their two cents by voting Louis Tibo in for Best Trick earning himself $100 cash and a brand new deck from Burton Snowboards.
