This past weekend Red Bull Butter Cup slid into Alberta to make its Canadian debut at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary and Edmonton Ski Club in Edmonton.

Despite -18 degree temps and side slashing snow, a combined 60 bundled up athletes showed up to check out this new event and throw down their best tricks. The contestants competed in a jam format and were judged on overall style, technique and creativity. Only trick sequences that included "buttering" counted. Young shralpers and skiers parked themselves on the hill to get a good spot to watch the action.

The judges had their work cut out trying to pick the top riders to advance to the finals as they all came out with their most impressive tricks - each with distinctive style and creativity. Run after run the athletes continued to impress the judges and spectators with their slides, spins, tweaks and air time when gapping the features. Throw in a couple front and back flips and the finals were set to be extremely competitive.

In the end, the best overall male, best overall female and best trick were chosen:
