The World’s Best B-Boy Neguin from Brazil talks about the motivating factors in his game, his heart over intellect approach and what’s next on his agenda.
What has being a part of this legendary competition meant to you? What lessons do you take home from this experience?
I worked hard but I didn’t do it just for the competition. I did it for myself. It’s the same as my ordinary lifestyle. I didn’t prepare much and I just tried to be funny, just tried to be happy. Basically that’s it. Breaking is my life.
What does winning this title mean to you, your family, friends and more importantly, your country?
I just want to say ‘thank you’ to my country [Holland] because it’s not just for me, it’s also the first championship for my country. Basically my family always supports me like “Neguin, Do it! You can be a winner!” The family is my biggest sponsor and the title is also for them.
What advice would you like to give the potential candidates for this competition for next year?
My advice is, the base comes from the heart not the brain. No matter what you do, do it from the heart, it must be the most important thing for you. If you do it from here [touching his chest], everything’s gonna be good. That’s it – and believe in God!
What is next on your agenda as the winners of Red Bull BC One?
I’ll go back to Amsterdam first, to dance in a musical I’m in right now, but other than that no idea at this moment.
