Why did you want to be a part of Red Bull MegaHurtz?
Red Bull events have all been amazing in my city and I hear the light-show is going to be next-level.
You recently Hosted a Remix contest on your website, what was that about?
This contest was for the last single 'Love' off of my debut album 'Popular Music'. I had done a contest through my website (http://felixcartal.com) before for my song 'Skeleton', but this time we did it officially through my label Dim Mak Records. It's amazing to hear everyone's submissions and the amount of input I receive for these is unreal.
You've been touring a while now, what's a typical day on tour like for you?
Get up early, head to the airport. Check in, check emails, sleep on the plane as much as I can. Land in the city, go over set ideas / new music for the night, have a healthy dinner and DJ at the club. Rinse, sleep, repeat.
Are you more recognized as a DJ here in Canada or overseas?
My profile in North America is definitely bigger, but things in Europe are always growing... I am starting to tour there more often than ever!
Would you ever take your MPC to a live band setting? Felix Cartal and band?
No I don't ever see 'Felix Cartal' becoming a band. It's definitely a solo act and will remain that way. That being said, I'd love to experiment outside of the Felix Cartal name with some side projects perhaps with more of a traditional band set-up.
