TJ STS.jpg Red Bull Canada

Red Bull Manny Mania is searching across the country and around the globe for the most skilled technical skateboarders to earn a spot in the World Final in New York City. Judged by a panel of renowned skaters and industry experts, local finalists from across the country will go head-to-head at the Plaza Skate Park in Vancouver on July 17, 2010. One Canadian skater will be given the opportunity to battle their way from their neighbourhood streets to the biggest stage in the world to join the skaters they admire – and who knows, maybe even beat them in New York City on August 21, 2010. In total, Red Bull Manny Mania is taking place in 25 countries across six continents including Canada for the very first time, and promises tricks and moves to impress.

Two wheels over Canada
Over the past few weeks, Red Bull Manny Mania made its way across the nation, with seven of Canada’s most talented skaters earning their tickets to the National Final after performing technical manoeuvers and proving their skills in the respective qualifying rounds in Halifax, Montreal, Quebec City, Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto and Winnipeg. Vancouver will host the eighth qualifier prior to the National Final. Featuring technical combos, fast skating and tricks like inward heelflip, pop shove it, kickflip, the manual, nose manual and nollie flip out, the competitors are judged on the complexity of the manual tricks and overall consistency.

Judgment Day

On July 17th, seven of Canada’s top skaters will fight for the one and only ticket to the World Final taking place in New York City on August 21st. Professional skateboarder Ryan Decenzo of Delta, BC will be on-site to skate the course and sign autographs for his fans. Participating in amateur skateboarding contests since he is 16 years old, Decenzo’s dedication, passion and commitment turned him pro in skateboarding earlier this year. “When you skate you have to be creative in what you choose to do, what obstacles and what tricks. But it’s also a sport because you need to keep your body in shape in order to keep on going and progressing” said Decenzo about skateboarding.

The National Final will take place at the Plaza Skate Park on July 17, 2010. The contest starts at 1PM PST and is free to all spectators.
